The Public Works Department has brined all roads in preparation for the inclement weather expected to begin around 7 AM tomorrow morning, January 30th and to last throughout the afternoon until about 4 PM.
At this time, the snow is expected to accumulate to one inch. While this may not be a plowable event, the roads may be slippery during morning hours as salting operations are taking place. All equipment is operational and Public Works will be monitoring the conditions throughout the night.
Yard Debris and Special Pickup will be delayed to the following day – Wednesday, January 31st due to the weather.

Zoning Hearing Board – Two (2) vacancies. The Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi – judicial body established by the PA Municipal Planning Code and consists of five members who are appointed to five year terms. Functions of the Zoning Hearing Board include reviewing applications for variances and special exceptions. Although the zoning hearing board functions like a court, formal court procedures are not strictly required. Beginning in 2018, Jenkintown Borough Public Meetings are to be held on Wednesday evenings. This change was authorized in an effort to assist in fostering continued public involvement in Borough Council meetings. The simplified meeting schedule will mean that the regularly scheduled Committee and Council meetings will fall on Wednesday evenings. Additionally, this revision to the meeting schedule will ensure that Borough Council and JSD School Board meetings will no longer be held on the same evenings, which hopefully enables residents as well as Board & Council members to attend both Jenkintown Borough Council and JSD – School Board meetings if desired. The J.P.D. and the Borough Public Works Department have worked throughout the storm and expect to be wrapping up those operations within the next few hours. The forecast is calling for single digit and negative temperatures until Monday, January 8th. The frigid temperatures will cause icing and dangerous conditions. Salting operations will continue to be deployed as needed to make the roadways safe.
