Doing Business In The Borough

Jenkintown Borough has a downtown business district area that lends itself well to independent businesses.

It is always recommended that you call, email or stop in Borough Hall to discuss your proposed project with the Borough Zoning Officer. This type of coordination can save time and money for all parties.

The following steps are required:

A Zoning and Use application must be filed by the business or property owner for the proposed Business. This application will be reviewed by the Borough Zoning Officer for compliance with Borough Code.

The Business should now be registered for a Business License with Berkheimer Associates.   Contact Berkheimer at https://www.hab-inc.com/ or 610-599-3140.

Once the Zoning & Use is approved all other approvals that will be required can be identified.

All projects vary as do the Codes & Laws that would be applicable to a particular project. The required approvals can be as simple as the approval of a Zoning & Use permit through the Land Development process.

The Jenkintown Borough Code Department is known for being Business friendly by providing professional, knowledgeable Code Officials and an Administrative staff that strives to expedite each process.

If you have any questions during any step for the process, please feel free to call, or stop in Borough Hall.

Borough Hall is located at 700 Summit Avenue and can be reached at 215-885-0700 Mon. thru Fri. 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Thank you for considering Jenkintown Borough for the location of your business!
