Grants Submitted But Not Approved

•2019 PECO Green Region “Bonus Round” Grant

This PECO 15th Anniversary Bonus Round Grant was prepared and submitted in November 2019, requesting up to $10,000 for funding of the tree planting project at the Cedar Street Moretti Park.  The Borough was notified by the Green Region Program that our project was not selected to receive the limited funding available.  Upwards of 40 applications were submitted for tree planting projects and few were selected.

•2019 The American Academy of Dermatology’s Shade Structure Program

This program helps to build permanent shade structures at schools, daycares, parks, and other non-profit organizations to cover outdoor areas not protected from the sun. This grant was requested to build a shade structure for a pergola at the new Cedar Street Moretti Park and was not awarded.

•2019 Stanley Smith Charitable Trust Grant

The Borough was invited to apply for an Educational Horticultural grant after successfully submitting a pre-application.  The application for $25,000 in funding was masterfully written by Verdant Educators and was submitted timely in August of 2019 to fund the rain garden plantings and a portion of the butterfly meadow at the Cedar Street Moretti Park.  This grant funding was not awarded.

•2019 DVRPC “Safer Routes to Transit” Grant

This funding is provided as a technical grant with no match. Selection criteria favors applicants that demonstrate a commitment to pursue final design and construction funding after DVRPC’s assistance. The assistance would be for identification and design to make safer routes to transit areas possible. This grant was not approved, however, a “smaller satellite grant” for this purpose was granted.

2019 PennDOT ARLE (Joint Application – Cheltenham, Abington) 

Traffic Light Upgrade, Washington Lane/ Township Line Road.  This grant funding was not awarded.

• 2018 DCED Keystone Communities Program Grant

Applied for $58,000.00. This grant was prepared and submitted prior to the August 31, 2018 deadline. The funding request is to demolish all structures including; garages, dwellings 433/435, install storm water infrastructure, place the site on grade and stabilize the site. This funding was not awarded.

• 2018 Montco 2040 Implementation Grant

The Borough applied for funding to construct long narrow planters along York Road. This funding would have provided for planters behind the York Road curb line that would have separated the pedestrians both visually and physically from the vehicular traffic while beautifying the streetscape. This funding was not awarded.

• 2018 DCED – Local Share Account (LSA) Grant

The funding request was to demolish all structures including; garages, dwellings 433/435, install storm water infrastructure, place the site on grade and stabilize the site. The DCED who is the granting authority for this opportunity notified the Borough that the 2018 LSA grant application was being denied and the recommendation was made by the DCED to instead file a grant funding application for the DCED 2018 Keystone Communities Program Grant.

• 2016 TAP, Transportation Alternative Program

On February 17, 2017, Jenkintown Borough was notified that our proposed project was not selected This grant opportunity was applied for to complete an intensive traffic study for PennDOT to consider allowing “dynamic parking” on York Road. If awarded this funding would have provided for the pre-requisite study to apply for parking options on York Road. PennDOT reported an overwhelming response with over $80,000,000. in requested funding and limited funding available. This funding was not awarded.
