Grant Funding: Infrastructure

• 2018 DCED – Flood Mitigation (Amount Awarded $100,000.00)

Jenkintown Borough was awarded a portion of the amount requested, which will fund the work required to mitigate the Cedar to Walnut Street flooding. The scope of this work includes the existing downstream conveyance system as well as the proposed upstream inlets and piping. The downstream culvert has been inspected and evaluated. The required repairs have been determined and the Borough Engineer is drafting the construction bid documents for the competitive bid process. The project is expected to be bid in the fall of 2019.

• 2017 CFA/DCED Multimodal Transportation Grant, (Amount Awarded $1,000,000)

The Commonwealth Finance Authority awarded Abington Township  and Jenkintown borough 1 Million Dollars to partner and develop plans to improve the intersection of Washington Lane and Greenwood Avenue.  This intersection experiences dangerous and costly flooding during rainfall events.  Abington Township has been working with the Borough in Engineering plans for improvements in the drainage, traffic control lights, pedestrian walkways and improving accessibility.  Engineered plans are expected to be prepared in early 2020.  The Boroughs match is not to exceed $117,000.
