In person at Borough Hall and virtual via ZOOM platform, livestream Facebook. Order of Business to include: Presentation  Rebecca Swanson, Executive Director Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority on RACP Grant Funding and Conditions created by the required cooperation agreement when Grant is filed by others. This Public Workshop Meeting includes the Administration & Finance, Building, Zoning & Revitalization, Public Safety and Public Works Committees and will include orders of business that may be brought forward to these Committees. The meeting agenda will be posted here on the Borough website no less then 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Borough Hall will be Closed on Monday, February 20th  in Observance of President’s Day – Borough Hall will re-open for Administrative Business Tuesday, February 21st, at 9:00 AM.

Tuesday, February 21st, 2022. 6:30 PM – Planning Commission Meeting virtual via ZOOM platform, livestream Facebook.
Order of Business to include: Presentation 101 York Road – Minor Land Development Application to Borough Council –  Proposed Oil Change Business to move in to former Glanzmann Service Center building/property at 101 York Road. SALDO & Zoning Code reviews and other orders of business that may be brought forward. The meeting agenda will be posted here on the Borough website no less then 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Wednesday, February 22th, 2023. 7:00 PM – Borough Council Hearing / Meeting
In person at Borough Hall and virtual via ZOOM platform, livestream Facebook.
Order of Business to include: Public Hearing before Borough Council to consider the legal adoption of the Subdivision Land Development Ordinance (SALDO). The Hearing was required to be advertised twice in a newspaper of general circulation, those dates are/were February 7th and 14th. The SALDO re-write was a huge undertaking by the Planning Commission and was than reviewed by the County Planning Commission, Borough Engineer, Borough Solicitor, Borough Zoning Officer and presented before Council at the Building, Zoning & Revitalization Committee. The Document is approximately 77 pages long and is available for Public Inspection at Borough Hall and at the County Law Library. It had not be revised in over fifty years and was in need of this comprehensive update of the rules & regulations governing development and improvements to properties falling under the definition of Sub-Division Land Development within the Borough. The review and re-write process of the Borough SALDO has been a two year process. This Public Hearing is an Official Court Hearing and it allows for Public Comment during this process for consideration of approval. Meeting to include: Resolution of support to submit Montco 2040 grant application for RT 611 / York Road – Safety Plan  and will include other orders of business that may be brought forward. Welcome to the Borough

Jenkintown Borough is a small suburban town, less than a square mile in area, with a population of approximately 4,450 residents. Surrounded by bustling Abington and Cheltenham Townships and a short drive to Philadelphia, Jenkintown appears to be a quiet oasis. The small-town vibe of Jenkintown allows residents to share strong social ties to the community and gain a sense of support and inclusion from residents to business owners.

Jenkintown Borough Hall is located at 700 Summit Avenue in Jenkintown, PA 19046. Code Red: Hot Weather Health Warning

The Montgomery County Commissioners, on the advice of the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety declared a Code Red Hot Weather Health Warning for Montgomery County based on a review of forecasts from the National Weather Service.

The Code Red has been issued for Montgomery County from 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 30th to 10:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018. A Code Red is issued when temperatures rise to 100 degrees or greater. Those especially at risk are very young children, elderly adults and people with chronic medical conditions. Friends, relatives, or neighbors should check on people who may be at risk.

PennDOT To Begin Rehabilitation of Two 611 Bridges

Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 18, on a project to rehabilitate the bridge carrying Route 611 (Easton Road) over Pennypack Creek and the bridge carrying Route 611 (Easton Road) over the Pennsylvania Turnpike ramps in Upper Moreland Township, Montgomery County. Work on both structurally-deficient bridges will be performed concurrently to minimize the impact to traffic.

On Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and from 9:00 PM, Friday, June 22, through 5:00 AM, Monday, June 25, motorists will encounter lane restrictions in both directions on Route 611 (Easton Road) from just north of Home Depot Drive to Wyandotte Road, for removal of concrete medians and placement of temporary pavement. Vacancies on Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Commission and Civil Service Commission

Jenkintown Borough Council is currently seeking to fill vacancies on the following Boards and Commissions:

Zoning Hearing Board – Two (2) vacancies.
The Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi – judicial body established by the PA Municipal Planning Code and consists of five members who are appointed to five year terms. Functions of the Zoning Hearing Board include reviewing applications for variances and special exceptions. Although the zoning hearing board functions like a court, formal court procedures are not strictly required. The primary purpose of the zoning hearing board is to help assure fair and equitable application and administration of the zoning ordinance.
