Winter Storm Watch Upgraded to Blizzard Watch; Important Information Below – January 22, 2016

The weather forecast for our region is now calling for heavy snow and high winds throughout the evening on Friday and continuing through the weekend. Please use caution if you need to travel.

Below is important information regarding all winter storms:

  • Vehicle parking: If you have a driveway, please park your car(s) there.  If you must park in the street, please park as close to the curb as possible, to facilitate plowing and salting. Jenkintown Borough Code, (156-28), requires sidewalks to be cleared within 10 hours of the snowfall ending.
  • Safety measures in the event of a power outage: There is always the possibility of a power outage due to the high winds that accompany a storm.  If you use a power generator, please make sure the generator is located outside in the open air for proper ventilation.  Any portable heaters or candles that may be used in the event of a power outage should not be located near anything flammable.
  • Borough Hall will be open for business: Borough Hall hours will be from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday January 22, 2016.  At this time Borough Hall hours will be normal, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Monday, January 25, 2016.
  • Public Works: The Jenkintown Borough Public Works Department began brining and salting the roads in the Borough this morning in preparation for the storm and will continue to work through the duration of the storm in order to keep the roads clear.
  • PECO: Customers experiencing any issues should contact PECO at 1-800-841-4141, peco.com or PECO Smart Mobile On-the-Go, the company’s mobile enhanced website. PECO has announced that they have manned their emergency response centers in case of power outages.
