Reminder: Jenkintown Borough virtual Public Meeting this Week

The Borough would like to remind you that due to the COVID-19 Emergency and in strict observance of Governor Wolf’s “Stay at Home Order”, the Borough will livestream all Public Committee and Borough Council meetings through the Borough’s Facebook page during this emergency. The Borough Council will hold their regularly scheduled public meeting on Wednesday, April 22nd at 7:00 PM on the Borough Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/jenkintownboro.  The meeting agenda can be found here on the Borough’s Website.

The public will be able to submit comments beforehand to the Borough Manager at glocke@jenkintownboro.com. Comments received before 4:00 PM the night of the meeting will be read during the public meeting. The Public will also have the opportunity to ask questions/ comment live during the Public Comment portion of the meeting on the Borough Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/jenkintownboro.

We look forward to your involvement in these public meetings and hope that you are able to follow the latest updates provided on the Borough Website with information provided by County, State and Federal Agencies.

PECO Accelerated Gas Infrastructure Modernization Project Update

The Borough has been notified by PECO’s subcontractor, Henkels & McCoy, that the Accelerated Gas Infrastructure Modernization Project (AGIMP) will continue the week of Monday, April 20th.  Runnymede Avenue between Myrtle Avenue and Walnut Street AND Florence Avenue between West and Runnymede Avenues will be closed to thru traffic for approximately one week beginning Monday, April 20th from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and there will be a lane closure on Walnut Street between Runnymede and Rodman Avenues from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to allow for the installation of new gas mains to be safely completed in these areas.  Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control due to temporary lane closures.

COVID-19 Update: Assistance for Families and Individuals in Need

Food insecurity concerns have been escalating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and Jenkintown Borough would like to provide everyone with very helpful information to help support anyone struggling with food insecurity during this difficult time. 

Below is today’s press release from Governor Tom Wolf reminding Pennsylvanians that public benefit programs are available to assist families and individuals during this public health crisis, along with a list of local food cupboard donation and distribution sites AND more helpful community resources.
