Zoning Hearing Board Hearing – 441/443 Leedom Street

The Jenkintown Borough Zoning Hearing Board will be holding a public hearing at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 28th, 2019, at the Jenkintown Borough Hall, located at 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 19046 to consider the application of DMPAG Inc. (the “Applicant”). The subject property is 441-443 Leedom Street, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 19046, tax map parcel 10-00-02188-00-7 located in the C Residential District (the “Property”). Applicant proposes to subdivide the parcel, “continue use of two residential units in existing building, provide separate lots for existing two units and one future unit with storage garages for use by owner (not for rent). Access easements will be provided to allow off-street parking.” Applicant appeals/requests the following: 1) appeal of the zoning officer’s determination of Section 181-31 of the Jenkintown Borough Zoning Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) relating to the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 2) in the alternative, Applicant requests a variance from Section 181-31 of the Ordinance to permit the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 3) appeal of the zoning officer’s determination of Section 181-10.G of the Jenkintown Borough Zoning Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) relating to the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 4) in the alternative, Applicant requests a variance from Section 181-10.G of the Ordinance to permit the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 5) appeal of the zoning officer’s determination of Section 181-10.H of the Jenkintown Borough Zoning Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) relating to the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 6) in the alternative, Applicant requests a variance from Section 181-10.H of the Ordinance to permit the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 7) appeal of the zoning officer’s determination of Section 181-11.B of the Jenkintown Borough Zoning Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) relating to the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 8) in the alternative, Applicant requests a variance from Section 181-11.B of the Ordinance to permit the allowance of storage garages (Unit 1); 9) Applicant requests a variance from Section 181.32.A of the Ordinance to allow for lot width narrower than the 26 feet the Ordinance requires for a semi-detached dwelling (Units 2&3) and lot width narrower than the 50 feet the Ordinance requires for a detached dwelling (Unit 1); 10) Applicant requests a variance from Section 181-32.C.1 of the Ordinance to allow for a front yard at the building line less than the required fifteen feet(Units 1,2&3); 11) Applicant requests a variance from Section 181-32.C.2.b of the Ordinance to allow for a side yard less than the required eight feet (Units 2&3). Complete Cedar Street Park Plan Presentation and Q&A

Next Tuesday, March 12th at 6:30 PM at Borough Hall, Jenkintown Borough will be hosting the final Cedar Street Park Planning meeting to present and discuss the Park Layout Plan of the future Cedar Street Park. This public planning meeting is open to all residents and those who wish to participate in the planning process. Trash & Recycling Pick Up Delayed until Saturday, March 9th

Jenkintown Borough has been notified by Republic Services (the Borough’s trash and recycling hauler), that the curbside pickup of trash and recycling, in the Borough, will be delayed one day this week (to Saturday, March 9th) .
This delay is due to the winter storm the area received earlier this week.

Trash and recycling will be picked up this week on Saturday, March 9th.

Snow Emergency Declared by Mayor Dobbs

Mayor Dobbs has declared a snow emergency in the Borough of Jenkintown beginning today, 4:00 PM and expiring 4:00 PM tomorrow, Monday March 4th, 2019. Residents with a driveway are asked to please park in it.  If you do not have a driveway please park as close to the curb as possible to allow for safe passage of the Borough plow trucks. The forecast snow accumulation currently varies greatly (from 2″ to 8″), and differs by agency making the prediction. The temperatures are expected to make the roads very slippery throughout the night and in to rush hour traffic. If you must travel please take along the recommended safety gear and allow extra time to navigate the expected icy roads.
