Yesterday, Abington Police received multiple reports of a male walking in various sections of the Township with an AR-15 slung over his shoulder.
It appears the purpose of this passive aggressive behavior is to engage police in a debate over his second ammendment rights.
The subject has NOT been seen in the Borough. However, if you should observe him please call 911. The Police Department is aware of this person and will insure public safety as well as protecting the subjects second amendment right.
Summit Avenue between Leedom Street and York Road will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, May 1st through Wednesday, May 2nd. The road closure will last from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM. This closure will be taking place to allow for AQUA to install a 4 inch fire line to 201 York Road.
Business parking lots along Summit Avenue including Borough Hall will remain accessible during this time. Summit Avenue will be closed to through traffic at this location so please make plans to take an alternate route to avoid further disruption to your travels. There will be no street parking at the bottom portion of Summit Avenue near Borough Hall and York Road. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary installations are made.

The Borough would like to remind its residents that the Jenkintown Girls Basketball Team Parade honoring the Lady Drakes is taking place this afternoon, Friday April 27th at 1:15 PM. The event will include a parade and ceremony in the Jenkintown Stadium. It is a rain or shine event.
Due to the rain, there will be a slight change in the parade route and ceremony location. The parade route will be as follows: Begin at the school tennis courts at the corner of Walnut Street and West Avenue and proceed down West Avenue, making a left onto Florence Avenue. The team will continue down Florence Avenue and turn left onto Greenwood Avenue. The parade will now conclude in the school cul de sac. The ceremony will no longer occur in the stadium, the ceremony will now take place in the school gymnasium. Jenkintown School District is urging residents of the Borough to enter using the main gymnasium doors on West Avenue. All other doors to the school will be locked and unavailable for entry to the public.
The School District and the Borough ask residents to line the sidewalks of West, Florence and Greenwood Avenues to show your support of this outstanding achievement! We hope to see everyone there. Congratulations Lady Drakes!

Runnymede Avenue will be closed today, between Elm Avenue and Walnut Street on April 24th from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. This closure will take place to allow for PECO to repair a gas leak that has occurred on the 400 block of Runnymede Avenue.
