Named one of the 15 best places to raise children by Philadelphia Magazine, Jenkintown is a charming, quaint community that many are proud to call home. Life in the borough comes with a network of nearby outstanding healthcare facilities, nearby churches and synagogues, dozens of diverse restaurants and cafes, a wide selection of small businesses, and strong support for the arts and entertainment, all tightly knit into a little over a half of a square mile.

The beautiful, tree-lined streets are just one of the many reasons to live in the borough. More than 60% of the houses in the town were built before 1939, giving the neighborhoods their classic charm. The many nearby parks and playgrounds, including Town Square and the George Perley Bird Sanctuary, create ideal surroundings for families and fans of the outdoors. Town Square is host to year-round functions, from free outdoor concerts to puppy parades, holiday celebration gatherings to pie-eating competitions, and the widely celebrated Jenkintown Arts Festival in the Fall, which attracts several thousands of patrons every year.

The Jenkintown school district is small in size but high in quality, making Jenkintown a community where parents can walk their children to school and know teachers as neighbors. In addition to Jenkintown Elementary School and Jenkintown Middle/High School, the Abington Friends School, Saint Basil Academy, and Wyncote Academy also serve the community.

Adults who are new to the town, or longtime residents who want to meet more neighbors, can join the Jenkintown Newcomers Club, which connects Jenkintown residents through social and civic activities.
