Jenkintown School District is Interested in Your Thoughts!

Dear Jenkintown residents and members of the Jenkintown school community,

Dr. Tim Wade, superintendent of the School District of Jenkintown, has announced his intent to retire in August of 2016.   Dr. Wade has served as superintendent since 2007.   We are extremely proud and thankful of the outstanding leadership that he has provided in our schools and our community.  Please join me in offering congratulations to Dr. Wade!

In light of Dr. Wade’s pending retirement, we have retained the services of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit to assist our efforts to identify a new superintendent.  The Board of Directors are very interested in your thoughts as to what you believe are the important qualifications and characteristics that are desired in our next superintendent.  Therefore, we are inviting the general public to complete a brief on-line community survey at http://www.jenkintowndrakes.org.  Your input will be welcomed and valued as we engage in the process to identify the next superintendent of the School District of Jenkintown.

Thank you for your participation!

President, School District of Jenkintown Board

Walnut Street re-opened to all traffic

Walnut Street between Greenwood Avenue and West Avenues is now re-opened to thru traffic. AQUA PA has completed the water main repairs and the trench has been properly backfilled and cold patch has been placed on the road at this time. Salt has been laid in this area, however, Borough officials ask that you continue to use caution when driving in this area as the roads still may be icy.

If your residence does not have water or you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact AQUA PA at 610-525-1400.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this emergency repair. As always, if there are any concerns please stop in, email or call Borough Hall at 215-885-0700.

Property Owner’s Responsibility During Snow Removal Process

As the Borough continues to dig out from the weekend’s storm, we would like to remind ALL property owners, including residential and commercial properties, that they are responsible for clearing their sidewalks.

Because of the wall of snow between the sidewalks and the streets, it can take just one property owner with uncleared sidewalks to make the entire block’s sidewalks unusable.  We do NOT want pedestrians forced into the streets.

Jenkintown ordinance number 76-15 requires sidewalks cleared within 10 hours of the end of a snowstorm. Jenkintown Police are enforcing this regulation vigorously.

This also includes icy sidewalks due to overnight melting/refreezing over the next few days.

Please attend to your sidewalks as soon as possible..

Thank you for your patience and please use caution in traveling for the next few days.

Winter Storm Jonas is finally over!
