York Road Delays & Homestead Rd Road Closure

TOMORROW – THURSDAY MARCH 30TH THROUGH FRIDAY MARCH 31ST 
A scheduled Road Closure of the 800 Block of Homestead Road is set to begin tomorrow morning, March 30th between the hours of 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM through Friday, March 31st at 5:00 PM. The road will be closed to through traffic from York Road to Vernon Road as well as Cottman Street from the driveway exit of 428 York Road (Jenkintown Center Shopping Center) to Homestead Road. The closure has been scheduled by the Property Owner(s) of 821 Homestead Road so their Contractors who will be transporting large equipment will be able to safely access the site to unload the equipment.

There will also be No Parking on Homestead Road, beginning at midnight tonight, March 29th, and continuing for the duration of this road closure.

In addition to the closing of Homestead Road, there will be intermittent delays on York Road tomorrow, March 30th and Friday, March 31st between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to allow for the transportation of the equipment safely to the site at 821 Homestead Road. In person at Borough Hall and virtual via ZOOM platform, livestream Facebook. Order of Business to include: Presentation  Rebecca Swanson, Executive Director Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority on RACP Grant Funding and Conditions created by the required cooperation agreement when Grant is filed by others. This Public Workshop Meeting includes the Administration & Finance, Building, Zoning & Revitalization, Public Safety and Public Works Committees and will include orders of business that may be brought forward to these Committees. The meeting agenda will be posted here on the Borough website no less then 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Borough Hall will be Closed on Monday, February 20th  in Observance of President’s Day – Borough Hall will re-open for Administrative Business Tuesday, February 21st, at 9:00 AM.

Order of Business to include: Presentation 101 York Road – Minor Land Development Application to Borough Council –  Proposed Oil Change Business to move in to former Glanzmann Service Center building/property at 101 York Road. Wednesday, February 22th, 2023. 7:00 PM – Borough Council Hearing / Meeting
In person at Borough Hall and virtual via ZOOM platform, livestream Facebook.
Order of Business to include: Public Hearing before Borough Council to consider the legal adoption of the Subdivision Land Development Ordinance (SALDO). The Hearing was required to be advertised twice in a newspaper of general circulation, those dates are/were February 7th and 14th. The SALDO re-write was a huge undertaking by the Planning Commission and was than reviewed by the County Planning Commission, Borough Engineer, Borough Solicitor, Borough Zoning Officer and presented before Council at the Building, Zoning & Revitalization Committee. The Document is approximately 77 pages long and is available for Public Inspection at Borough Hall and at the County Law Library. It had not be revised in over fifty years and was in need of this comprehensive update of the rules & regulations governing development and improvements to properties falling under the definition of Sub-Division Land Development within the Borough. The review and re-write process of the Borough SALDO has been a two year process. This Public Hearing is an Official Court Hearing and it allows for Public Comment during this process for consideration of approval. Meeting to include: Resolution of support to submit Montco 2040 grant application for RT 611 / York Road – Safety Plan  and will include other orders of business that may be brought forward. Trash and Recycling Collection to begin at 6:00 AM Tomorrow

Due to the timing of the forecasted inclement weather, associated freezing temperatures and possibility of icing conditions the collection of Curbside Trash and Recycling will begin being collected at 6:00 AM tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow, Friday, December 23th Republic Services will be starting the curbside collection of trash and recycling one hour earlier (6:00 AM) than usual so the routes can be completed and the drivers can safely complete their trips to the landfill and back to their home base of Telford, PA.
If you have trash or recycling to be picked up please place it curbside tonight or earlier then 6:00 AM tomorrow as the Borough has committed in assisting Republic Services in having their employees complete their tasks and making it home safely to their families for the Holidays. Read More »
