2020 Paving Project to Commence on May 25th

Jenkintown Borough would like to announce that the 2020 paving project is set to begin. This paving project includes the following roads: Vernon Road (Clement Road to Washington Lane), Homestead Road (Newbold to York Roads) and Hillside Avenue (Highland Avenue to Walnut Street).

The Borough’s paving Contractor, Joseph E. Sucher & Sons, Inc., is scheduled to begin the milling and paving operation on Tuesday May 25th. The paving project is expected to be completed by Friday May 28th. Joseph E. Sucher & Sons, Inc. will be posting no parking signs on Monday, May 24th, to notify residents of the upcoming milling and paving project process. Affected residents will also receive notification from the contractor prior to the commencement of the project. There will be continued communication and updates during this project that will include scheduling, parking, road restrictions and or closures if applicable during this operation.
The project will begin on Tuesday, May 25th with milling on Vernon Road. During the milling process the roads will be open to through traffic with limited delays and residents will have access to driveways. It is the intent of the Borough’s subcontractor, Joseph E. Sucher & Sons, Inc. Paving, to be completed the milling of Vernon and Homestead Road as well as Hillside Avenue by Wednesday May 29th.

Joseph E. Sucher & Sons, Inc. Paving intends to begin the paving operation on Vernon Road on Thursday, May 27th. During the paving process, the roads will not be open to through traffic and residents will have limited access to their driveways.    

Street parking will be restricted during the milling and paving operations. Residents with driveways are encouraged to use them, and properties using street parking will need to find alternate locations during this project.

The Borough is excited to have this project underway and would like to thank all the residents and business owners for your patience and understanding during delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and other infrastructure projects. Other then conditions causing a concern for life safety, there has been no Concrete repair work enforced on this project due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Curb and Sidewalk Maintenance Program has resumed however and correspondence on this and future projects will be forthcoming.
