Winter Storm Warning

The Public Works Department has been preparing for the potential threat of severe weather currently forecasted to begin tomorrow December 16th, and continue into Thursday, December 17th. According to the most recent update provided  opens in a new windowHEREopens PDF file by the National

Weather Service, the storm’s current forecast is to begin with potentially heavy snow with significant accumulations and possible wintery mix which will create unsafe travel conditions.  Minor flooding is also possible and high winds are expected.  Please visit the  opens in a new windowhttps://www.weather.gov/ for updates from the National Weather Service.

Public Works will be staffed throughout the storm. All equipment is operational and Public Works will be monitoring the conditions throughout the day and through the evening.  The roads will be slippery throughout the storm and as salting operations are taking place.   If you must go outside or travel please use caution.

  • Safety measures in the event of a power outage: There is always the possibility of a power outage due to the high winds that accompany a storm.  If you use a power generator, please make sure the generator is located outside in the open air for proper ventilation.  Any portable heaters or candles that may be used in the event of a power outage should not be located near anything flammable.
  • Aqua Pennsylvania has provided the Borough with information on how to avoid frozen pipes, that information can be found here. As the homeowner, you are responsible for the protection of your home’s pipes and meters and for any damage to them.
