The Jenkintown Borough Halloween Parade,  sponsored by the Rec Board and the Jenkintown Fire Department will be held Saturday, October 31st from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.   Weather permitting, volunteers will parade through town to deliver candy to costumed children of all ages.   All participants on their front yards will get a head start on their trick-or-treating as our dedicated volunteers distribute treats to help make this holiday a little more festive!  Please  opens in a new windowclick hereopens PDF file  for the parade route.

Important Safety Guidelines:

  • Please have kids come to the edge of their sidewalk to receive candy.
  • Please do not approach the moving trucks.
  • Sirens and air horns will be used through out the routes so people will know when we are getting close.

Reminder:  Winners of the Friends of the Jenkintown Library #BooInTheBoro 1st Annual Halloween House Decorating Contest will be announced on October 30th  on the Jenkintown Borough Library Website at  https://www.jenkintownlibrary.org/ .  Follow the Friends of the Jenkintown Library at  opens in a new windowhttps://www.facebook.com/JenkintownLibrary/.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Montgomery County Department of Health (MCDOH) have issued recommendations to make the holiday as safe as possible this year.

Trick-or-Treating is not a Borough regulated event but we hope that residents take the guidance provided by these two agencies, some of which are highlighted below, as well as their own personal comfort level into account while celebrating this year.

  • If you are sick stay home.
  • Sanitize your hands often.
  • Maintain your social distance of at least 6 feet.
  • Any celebrations should remain outside.
  • Wear a cloth mask over your nose and mouth in addition to costume masks.
  • Only go out with family and stay close to home.
  • Avoid communal bowls of candy; if you can, wrap the treats in individual bags to be picked up by the kids at a distance.
  • Greeting the kids from a distance while you are already outside might be the best way enjoy the costumes!

And of course, if you’d like to maintain the ultimate social distancing and opt out, since trick-or-treating usually commences when the sun sets, we recommend leaving your outside lights off.

Be safe and well!!
