The Public Works Department has brined all roads in preparation for the inclement weather expected to begin around 10 PM tonight, December 13th and to last throughout the night until about 6 AM tomorrow morning, December 14th. The snow is expected to accumulate to less then one inch. While this may not be a plowable event, the roads may be slippery during morning hours as salting operations are taking place. All equipment is operational and Public Works will be staffed throughout the night and will be monitoring the storm.

The Menorah Lighting will be held in Town Square on Wednesday, December 13th at 6:30 PM. The event will consist of a variety of festivities to celebrate Hanukkah. Refreshments will be served.
Parking is free at any metered spot on the street or in either municipal lot after 4 PM on Wednesday evenings, all day Saturday and all day Sunday throughout the holiday season.

Last night Independent Fire Company, Pioneer Fire Company and Jenkintown Police Department were dispatched for a possible collapse of a building on Leedom Street.
Independent Fire Company, Pioneer Fire Company, Jenkintown Police Department, the Borough Administration and Borough Engineer assessed the situation and determined that a full analysis of the structure would be made in the morning. The scene was made safe overnight with crews periodically assessing the scene for changing conditions.
This morning, the Borough Administration commissioned a Structural Engineer to evaluate the structure. The determination was made that a portion of the building must be removed to bring the property into a safe condition.
Currently, demolition crews are on scene and removing the portion of the structure that has been deemed unsafe. For the safety of the crew, the Borough will be closing Leedom Street between West & Hillside Avenues as well as Cherry Street between Leedom & Johnson Streets. The Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Contract is a competitive bid contract following the State guidelines for Municipal Acquisitions. In 2014 The Montgomery County Trash to Steam Plant was closed and sold to a private entity. This caused the Montgomery County Trash Consortium to come to an end.
