The PECO gas main project is nearing completion. PECO’s subcontractor, Kehoe, is performing the final restoration of the trenches. Today the permanent restoration of the trench took place on Rodman Avenue from Myrtle Avenue to Walnut Street and Linda Vista Avenue between Runnymede Avenue and Cheltena Avenue. To perform the final restoration safely, Kehoe will be closing Shoemaker Avenue between Hillside Avenue and Leedom Street as well as Elm Avenue between Hillside Avenue and Cheltena Avenue tomorrow, August 17th.
These road closures will last until approximately 4PM. Contractors will provide access to homes for residents who live in this area.
Additionally,The Borough has been notified that AQUA’s subcontractor, Giuliani, had completed the milling of Washington Lane between York Road and Newbold Road today. Tomorrow. August 17th, Washington Lane between Greenwood Avenue and Newbold Road will be closed to allow for the preparation and the start of the paving of Washington Lane. Jenkintown Borough would like to announce that the 2017 paving project is set to begin.
This paving project includes the following roads: Rodman Avenue (full length), Linda Vista Avenue (full length), Shoemaker Avenue (full length) and Washington Lane (York Road to Greenwood Avenue). PECO has completed the installation of the new gas mains along Rodman, Linda Vista and Shoemaker Avenues. With the new gas main installed and the old gas main decommissioned, PECO has begun the final trench restoration and expects to be completed the week of August 14th. The Borough’s paving Contractor, General Asphalt is scheduled to begin the milling and paving operation on Monday, August 21st. The paving is expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2017/2018 school year.
