WEST AVENUE ICE COVERED / PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION

The Borough Was notified of a water leak coming from the J.S.D. property. The water entering on to West Avenue at Florence Avenue froze and is created a hazard from the point of entry extending down grade on West Avenue toward the train station.

The J.P.D., F.M. and J.S.D. worked together to secure the water source and Public Works has been called in to salt the roadways in the vicinity. Please exercise caution driving or walking in the area of West Avenue/Florence Avenue.

Reminder – Cedar Street Park Meeting Tonight

The night is upon us, Tonight, 6:30 PM at Borough Hall, Jenkintown Borough will be hosting a Park Planning meeting to present and discuss the Park Layout Plan of the future Cedar Street Park. The upcoming public planning meetings shown below are open to all residents and those who wish to participate in the planning process. After this evening there will be two subsequent planning meetings with dates, times and topics shown below.

IMPORTANT Change Of Venue. Due to extreme temperatures and sustained winds todays event Recognizing Salem Baptist Church for its notable history and significant contribution to the community will be required to be moved inside. The Independent Fire Company has offered their Fire House for this event to take place warmly and safely.

Upcoming Inclement Weather

The Public Works Department has been preparing for the inclement weather currently forecasted to begin tomorrow afternoon, Saturday January 19th, and continue into Sunday, January 20th. The storm’s current forecast is to begin with snow and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain. The rain and freezing rain could be heavy at times.On Sunday, the current forecast shows snow, freezing rain, and sleet in the morning, then a chance of snow through the afternoon. Extremely low temperatures, in the single digits Sunday night, with a low around 6 degrees are expected to create unsafe, icy conditions.

The roads will be slippery throughout the storm and as salting operations are taking place. All equipment is operational and Public Works will be monitoring the conditions throughout the day and through the evening. If you must go outside or travel please use caution. MLK Day and Salem Baptist Recognition / Borough Hall Hours

This year, on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 21st, the Borough in conjunction with Community Leaders and Salem Baptist Church, will be hosting an event at 12:00 noon, in front of the former Salem Baptist Church building located at the intersection of Leedom Street and Summit Avenue. To accommodate this event, Summit Avenue between Leedom & Cedar Streets and Willow Street between Leedom & Cedar Streets will be closed for approximately one hour.
