Road Closures Tomorrow, December 12

Jenkintown Borough has been notified that York Road will experience a northbound lane closure between Greenwood Avenue & Washington Lane tomorrow, Wednesday, December 12th  from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The sidewalk along York Road is being poured tomorrow and for the safety of the contractor, the outside lane of York Road has been closed.

Additionally, Newbold Road, between Rydal & Clement Roads, will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, December 12th  from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Passerini Construction will be installing storm piping and replacing inlets to address the drainage and roadway issues. There will be no parking on Newbold Road in this vicinity from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. “No Parking” signs have been installed at these locations. Residents will still be able to access their driveways.

Please make plans to take an alternate route during the time listed to avoid further disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary issues are addressed.

Menorah Lighting 2018

The Menorah Lighting will be held in Town Square tonight, Wednesday, December 5th at 6:45 PM. There will be latkes, doughnuts and warm beverages to enjoy during the lighting – as well as live music! There will also be arts and crafts and storytelling for the kids!

As a reminder, parking is free at any metered spot on the street or in either municipal lot after 4:00 PM on Wednesday evenings, all day Saturday and all day Sunday throughout the entire holiday season.

Light up the Square

The Jenkintown Recreation Board is proud to host the annual ‘Light up the Square’ event this Saturday, December 1st at 6:00 PM in Town Square. This is a rain or shine event, in case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Independent Fire House located at 609 Greenwood Avenue.

Jenkintown EAC Meeting & Aqua Hearing Information

The Jenkintown Borough Environmental Advisory Committee will meet at Borough Hall at 700 Summit Avenue, on Wednesday, December 5th at 7:00 PM. Due to residents having posted questions about possible contamination of our tap water by PFC’s (Perfluorooctane (PFOA) /Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) on the Jenkintown Community Page, the EAC has placed the issue of water quality on the agenda for the monthly EAC meeting.

The Jenkintown EAC is asking residents to attend a public input hearing hosted by the Public Utility Commission (PUC) on Tuesday, November 27 at 6:00 PM regarding AQUA’s proposed water and watershed rate increased. (Attendees can sign up with the PUC to speak by calling 717-787-1399).

Water Quality Information

AQUA PA, Jenkintown Borough’s main water supplier, has created a website that has made it easy for users to find their water sources – as well as search for results from blended water delivery points in several communities. When you click on the link, which you’ll find here, and search the ‘Monitoring Results’ page, AQUA has broken down the wells by county and by municipality to make it easier for users to navigate the site. AQUA has also added a ‘Blended Water Test Results in the Neighborhood’ section which will provide results from any new testing that is conducted in any given Township or Borough.
