Jenkintown School District Solo Cup Recycling

Graduation Season is upon us!!

Are you having a Graduation Party and using Solo Cups? Please consider recycling your empty party cups through Terracycle. There will be blue bins outside of Borough Hall & in Town Square starting Friday. They will be marked with the following flyer and picked up on Monday.

It’s a Win-Win: As a direct shipment to Terracycle, the solo cups will definitely be recycled, and we’ll also make a little money for Jenkintown School District! To view the flyer, please click here!

FREE Veterans’ Photo ID Discount Cards Available on June 6 at Rep. Steve McCarter’s Glenside Office

State Rep. Steve McCarter is invites veterans who reside in Montgomery County to apply for a veterans’ photo ID discount card at his district office. Provided through Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Jeanne Sorg’s office, the card allows veterans who reside in Montgomery County to receive discounts for goods and services from a list of more than 500 participating Montgomery County merchants in honor of and appreciation for your service to our country.

Summer Music Series Begins Tonight!

The sound of music will be wafting through the trees of Jenkintown’s beautiful Town Square this summer, with free, live music scheduled for every Tuesday night at 7 PM. Hometown favorite, Jenkintown High School Jazz Ensemble, will be playing in Town Square,tonight Tuesday May 21st, from 7pm – 9pm!  It’s going to be a ton of fun, so you don’t want to miss it!

Town Square is going to be bursting at the seams with food, fun, and fantastic music, every Tuesday night, all summer long, so bring a lawn chair, pack a picnic basket, bring a cooler, and invite your friends to enjoy the twilight music at Town Square every Tuesday night this summer.

Summit Avenue Road Closure

AQUA has notified the Borough that Summit Avenue, between Wyncote Road and Greenwood Avenue, will be closed today, Monday, May 20th to all through traffic until 3:00 PM. The road closure is to allow Caddick, AQUA’s subcontractor, to replace a fire hydrant on the 100 block of Summit Avenue. The road closure will take place to ensure the safety for both the General Public as well as the workers.

Please make plans to take an alternate route during the time listed above to avoid further disruption to your travels. Residents residing on the 100 block of Summit Avenue will have access to their driveways. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary upgrades are made.

Jenkintown Borough Awarded Montco 2040 Grant for Cedar Street Park

Jenkintown Receives Montco 2040 Implementation Grant from Montgomery County

Jenkintown, PA May 2019 – Jenkintown has received a 2019 Montco 2040 Implementation Grant for its Cedar Street Park Project. The grant, awarded for $99,850, aimed at implementing the county comprehensive plan, Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, is one of fifteen recently awarded by the Montgomery County Commissioners. These 2019 grant awards account for over $1,600,000. Since the program’s inception in 2016, over $5.5 million has been awarded to projects.

Jenkintown Borough will install a new 0.36 acre community pocket park in the Cedar Street neighborhood of Jenkintown Borough.  The grant will cover the first phase of improvements which will include site preparation, demolition, walkways, parking, fencing, stormwater management, utilities, lawn and landscaping features.  The new park will provide public open space and recreation in a dense and close-knit residential area of the Borough.
