The Shade Tree Commission of Jenkintown (STC) is Interested in Training More Tree Tenders

The Shade Tree Commission of Jenkintown (STC) is interested in training additional tree tenders.  The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) is offering a basic tree tender’s course.  It is a hands-on class that teaches things like how to property plant, prune, maintain, and identify trees.

The cost for this course is $40, however the STC will reimburse you once you successfully complete the course.  It’s typically a 3 night course, for about 3 hours a night.  If you are interested, please email jenkintownshadetree@gmail.com prior to registering for the class. You must be a resident of Jenkintown Borough to be reimbursed for this course.  We will support the first 7 people who register and complete the course. 2019 Paving Project Progress Update

2019 PAVING PROJECT PROGRESS UPDATE – All milling and paving on this project was successfully completed today.

The entire project is expected to be completed by days end tomorrow. The Borough has negotiated a joint municipal agreement with Abington Township to have the thermoplastic traffic control striping installed at a savings to the Jenkintown Borough tax payers. That traffic control striping (school zones, cross walks, stop bars, etc.) is being installed this afternoon and early evening. Continue reading 2019 Paving Project Progress Update

AQUA Pennsylvania Water Main Replacement Update

AQUA’s sub contractor, Caddick Utilities, will continue the excavation and watermain installation on Vernon Road tomorrow, September 12, 2019. Vernon Road will be closed to “thru Traffic” from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM between Homestead Road and Vista Road to allow for the roadway to be excavated and the new watermain to be safely installed.  During this process, residents on Vernon Road will continue to have access to their properties. If you do not reside on one of these streets please plan to take another route during these times to avoid disruption to your travels

AQUA Pennsylvania Water Main Replacement- Phase two

AQUA’s sub contractor, Caddick Utilities, has completed the watermain installation today on Homestead Road between Newbold and Vernon Roads.  Tomorrow, September 11, 2019, Vernon Road will be closed to “thru Traffic” from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM between Homestead Road and Vista Road to allow for this portion of the roadway to be excavated and the new watermain safely installed.  During this process, residents on Vernon Road will continue to have access to their properties.
