Runnymede & Rodman Avenues Temporary Road Delays

The Borough’s subcontractor, Barricelli Construction, will be completing the final concrete restoration to the affected properties as a result of the completed storm sewer infrastructure work addressing the ground water issue.

To ensure the safety for both the General Public as well as the workers, Runnymede Avenue between Florence and Myrtle Avenues and Rodman Avenue between Myrtle Avenue and Walnut Street may experience temporary delays to through traffic tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8th from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

Please make plans to take an alternate route during the time listed above to avoid further disruption to your travels. Residents residing on the 200 block of Runnymede and the 300 block of Rodman Avenue will have complete access to their driveways. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary repairs are made.

Runnymede Avenue Road Closure

PECO has just notified the Borough that Runnymede Avenue between Elm and Linda Vista Avenues will be closed today, Monday, May 6th to all through traffic until 12:00 PM. The road closure is to allow PECO to complete a repair for a gas leak in the 500 block of Runnymede Avenue. The road closure will take place to ensure the safety for both the General Public as well as the workers.

Borough Hall Closed Thursday April 18 and Friday April 19

Jenkintown Borough hall will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, April 18th and Friday, April 19th. Borough hall will reopen for business at 8:00 AM on Monday, April 22nd. The Structural Engineer has completed their final analysis and while the inspections and calculations indicated the remaining portion of the common wall should withstand the wind loads that could be imposed, the results did not indicate that Borough hall would be safe to be occupied during the remaining demolition of the common wall. The demolition at 610 Summit Avenue as it applies to the common wall with Borough hall is on schedule to be completed by the end of the week, Friday April 19th.

Given all of the information provided, the decision was made to exercise caution was made and is appropriate given the possible danger to life safety of the General Public and Borough Employees. Read More »

Committee Meetings Change of Venue and Date

Jenkintown Borough Committee Meetings will be held in the Community Room, Jenkintown School District, 325 Highland Avenue on Monday, April 22nd. Please use the entrance doors to your RIGHT facing the link.

Monday April 22nd – JSD Community Room
6:00 PM  – Jenkintown Borough Planning Commission
7:30 PM – Building, Zoning & Revitalization Committee 
    Administration & Finance Committee

The April Jenkintown Borough Design Review Board meeting has been canceled due to lack of agenda items. Next DRB meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, 6:00 PM at Borough hall. The April 24th Borough Council meeting is expected to be held as regularly scheduled, 7:30 PM at Borough hall.

Borough Hall Closed April 16 until April 18

Jenkintown Borough hall will be closed from this afternoon, Tuesday, April 16th until 8:00 AM Thursday, April 18th. The Structural Engineer was on site today, April 16th and has finished their site inspection and are completing their final analysis of the demolition at 610 Summit Avenue as it applies to the common wall with Borough hall.

The property owner of 610 Summit Avenue has been responsive and has communicated to the Borough their intent to do everything possible to make the site safe and complete the demolition expeditiously.
