Traffic Light Outage

PECO will be replacing temporary underground cable, tomorrow August 25th starting at 5A.M. in the area of York Road and Madeira Avenue.  This will cause the traffic light at the intersection of Cloverly and Madeira Avenues to be temporarily out from 5:00 A.M. until roughly 5:20 A.M.

Thank you for your patience and please use caution when traveling around the area.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Borough Hall at (215) 885-0700.

Borough Hall Closed Today

This morning PECO informed the Borough that the transformer servicing Borough Hall did not upgrade correctly. PECO will begin work replacing this transformer around 9:30 am. The Police Department is fully staffed and continuing daily operations. Both the emergency and non-emergency numbers will be functioning on emergency power.

The Borough Administrative Offices were just informed that will be losing power around 9:30 am for what is an indeterminate amount of time. All power (computer systems and telephone communication) will not be functioning.
Due to the loss of phone service and computer access, Borough Hall will be closed today June 14th. Borough Hall is expected to be open tomorrow morning, June 15th at 8 am. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause as this was not a scheduled procedure.

PECO Power Outages

PECO is in the final stages of the electrical upgrade project. PECO states that the attached letter was mailed approximately on May 13th notifying customers of power outages. Additionally, PECO stated that customers would also receive a separate notice 72 hours in advance of the scheduled interruption. The Borough has had numerous complaints that these notifications had not been received.

As they wrap up the project, PECO will be scheduling brief power interruptions (approx. 4-6 hours in duration) between May 31 – June 10. The Borough is in communication with PECO attempting to obtain the remaining disruption schedule so it can be distributed to Borough residents by email blast, Facebook and on the Borough website.  Read More »

Jenkintown School District is Interested in Your Thoughts!

Dear Jenkintown residents and members of the Jenkintown school community,

Dr. Tim Wade, superintendent of the School District of Jenkintown, has announced his intent to retire in August of 2016.   Dr. Wade has served as superintendent since 2007.   We are extremely proud and thankful of the outstanding leadership that he has provided in our schools and our community.  Please join me in offering congratulations to Dr. Wade!

In light of Dr. Wade’s pending retirement, we have retained the services of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit to assist our efforts to identify a new superintendent.  The Board of Directors are very interested in your thoughts as to what you believe are the important qualifications and characteristics that are desired in our next superintendent.  Therefore, we are inviting the general public to complete a brief on-line community survey at http://www.jenkintowndrakes.org.  Your input will be welcomed and valued as we engage in the process to identify the next superintendent of the School District of Jenkintown.

Thank you for your participation!

Douglas Moore
President, School District of Jenkintown Board
