Important Borough Information for the Month of April

Below is important information from the Borough regarding the Public Meeting Schedule, Administration & Police Department Clerical hours, as well as the Special Collections Schedule for the month of April:

APRIL PUBLIC MEETING SCHEDULE

At this time, the Borough will continue to livestream all scheduled public meetings including committee and Borough Council meetings on the Borough’s Facebook page for the safety and welfare of all participants. Beginning in April 2021, the Borough will begin to transition the livestreaming of all public meetings to the YouTube platform in lieu of the current Facebook application. Additional announcements on this platform migration will follow. A meeting schedule for the April 2021 meetings and a link to the websites meeting minutes/agendas has been provided below for your reference.

The public will be able to submit comments beforehand to the Borough Manager at glocke@jenkintownboro.comcreate new email. Please include your name and address in the comment. Comments submitted to glocke@jenkintownboro.comcreate new email prior to 4:30 PM the night of the meeting will be read during the public meeting. The Public will also have the opportunity to ask questions/ comment live only during the Public Comment portion of the meeting on the Borough Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/jenkintownboro.If you are or would like to become a party to the public hearing, email that request for the ZOOM invite to George Locke at glocke@jenkintownboro.comcreate new email.

West Avenue Road Closure

PECO has just notified the Borough that West Avenue between York Road and Leedom Street will be closed today, Thursday, April 01, 2021 to all through traffic until 5:00 PM. The road closure is to allow PECO to complete a repair for underground electric issues on the 700 block of West Avenue. The road closure will take place to ensure the safety for both the General Public as well as the workers.

Peco has notified all customers who service has been interrupted during these times. Please make plans to take an alternate route during the time listed above to avoid further disruption to your travels. Residents residing on the 700 block of West Avenue will have complete access to their properties. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary repairs are made.

Summit Avenue Road Closure, Today March 23

The Borough has been informed by the Summit House Developer that Charlestown Paving & Excavating will be closing Summit Avenue, between Cedar Street & Willow Street, to thru traffic today Tuesday, March 23rd from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM to allow for the milling operation of the 600 block of Summit Avenue. During the milling operation residents will have access to their driveways with periodic disruption.

Paving of Summit Avenue between Cedar Street & Willow Street is scheduled to begin Thursday, March 25th, beginning at 7:00AM. Residents will not have continuous access to their driveways during the paving operation and will not be able to access their driveway until the paving has cooled for traffic.

Please make plans to take an alternate route to avoid further disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary improvements are made.

Runnymede Avenue Road Closure

The Borough has just been informed that Runnymede Avenue between Florence and Myrtle Avenues is closed today, Monday March 22nd, to all through traffic from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The road closure is to allow the Infrasource, a subcontractor of PECO, to complete a new gas lateral installation. The road closure will take place to ensure the safety for both the General Public as well as the workers.

Please make plans to take an alternate route during the time listed above to avoid further disruption to your travels. Residents residing on the 200 block of Runnymede will have complete access to their driveways. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Montgomery County Announces COVID-19 Rent and and Utility Relief Program

NORRISTOWN, PA – During their regularly scheduled meeting, the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners announced the return of a funding program to help renters and landlords impacted by COVID-19. The program comes as the CDC’s eviction moratorium is set to expire on March 31 and Pennsylvania’s Public Utility Commission’s utility shutoff moratorium ends on April 1.

The Rent and Utility Relief Program, administered by Your Way Home, allows eligible households to receive up to 12 months of assistance for rent and utility bills dating back to March 13, 2020. Assistance can be for past due rent and/or utility payments or future rent payments. Funding for security deposits, first and/or last month of rent is also eligible as part of the program.
