Important Borough Information for the Month of May

Below is important information from the Borough regarding the Public Meeting Schedule, Administration & Police Department Clerical hours, as well as the Special Collections Schedule for the month of May:

MAY PUBLIC MEETING SCHEDULE

At this time, the Borough will continue to livestream all scheduled public meetings including committee and Borough Council meetings on the Borough’s Facebook page for the safety and welfare of all participants. The Borough had begun the process to transition the livestreaming of all public meetings to the YouTube platform in lieu of the current Facebook application. This process has not moved forward due to the volume of hearings and meetings taking place at this time. Additional announcements on this platform migration will follow. A meeting schedule for the May 2021 meetings and a link to the websites meeting minutes/agendas has been provided below for your reference.

The public will be able to submit comments beforehand to the Borough Manager at glocke@jenkintownboro.comcreate new email. Please include your name and address in the comment. Comments submitted to glocke@jenkintownboro.comcreate new email prior to 4:30 PM the night of the meeting will be read during the public meeting. The Public will also have the opportunity to ask questions/ comment live only during the Public Comment portion of the meeting on the Borough Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/jenkintownboro. PUBLIC MEETING SCHEDULE May 2021 Meeting Agendas & Minutes

(All regularly scheduled meetings are to begin at 7:00 PM unless noted otherwise)

  • Tuesday 11th | Planning Commission 6:30 PM. This Meeting Was Canceled and Re-Scheduled for Tuesday May 25th at 6:30 PM. This evenings advertised Planning Commission meeting is one week earlier than typical due to election day next week. There are no Conditional Use or Land Development projects before the Planning Commission this evening. Agenda includes – SALDO and Zoning Review / Re-Write etc.

  • Tuesday 25th | Planning Commission 6:30 PM.

BOROUGH ADMINISTRATION IN-PERSON OFFICE HOURS

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the Borough Administration Office will remain open for in person services by appointment only during the hours of 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. In addition, the Borough Administration’s office phone switch board will be open from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. All calls outside of the above schedule will be routed to the appropriate party for proper resolution. The Administration is continuing to work remotely and continues to maintain a full time schedule when not in-person.

POLICE DEPARTMENT CLERICAL HOURS

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the Jenkintown Police Department Clerical Office will be open for in person services during the hours 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM Monday through Friday.

The Police Department’s phones are operational and can be reached at 215-884-1202, ext. 2. Should an Officer be needed for a non-emergency event, please dial 610- 635-4300 or if at the Jenkintown Police Station, please pick up the phone outside the door. As always if you have an EMERGENCY dial 911.

MAY SPECIAL COLLECTIONS SCHEDULE

The Jenkintown Public Works Department will proceed with their Special Collections Program as we continue to take the necessary safety precautions during the COVID-19 emergency.  Special collections will take place the first and third Wednesday of the month until further notice.

The next special collections for the month of May will be held on Wednesday, May  19th, 2021. Your collection request must be submitted no later than the Tuesday before at 2:00 PM so a complete list can be compiled and provided to the Public Works Foreman for route scheduling.

You can schedule a special/bulk item collection by calling 215-885-0700 or email kriggins@jenkintownboro.comcreate new email and provide your address, item to be collected and contact information (i.e. phone/email).  Payment can be made by mailing a check to Borough Hall at 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046, placing payment in the mail slot in the front door of Borough Hall, arranging for a porch pick up on the day of your scheduled collection or payments can be made online or by phone with a credit card, however a service fee will be applied by the card service company which may make this method less favorable.

The Borough will continue to provide updates as the COVID-19 situation develops and adjustments are made to improve the special/bulk collection program.
