COVID-19 Update: Grant Opportunities for Individuals and Businesses

Senator Art Haywood shares helpful resources below on grant programs that are now accepting applications for individuals and businesses, along with updates on additional loan and tax credit opportunities:

For businesses:

  • The COVID-19 PA Hazard Pay Grant Program is open until July 31st for employers in life-sustaining occupations. Eligible industries are healthcare and social assistance agencies, food manufacturing and retail, transit and ground passenger transportation, and certain janitorial and security services.   • The COVID-19 Cultural Museum and Preservation Grant Program is open until July 31st for museums and arts institutions that lost revenue due to COVID-19 closures. Grants range from $25,000 to $500,000. Applicants must provide evidence that they received funding prior to May 29, 2020 from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission or the Department of Community and Economic Development. Eligible organizations include children’s museums, general museums with at least two equally significant disciplines, history museums and historical sites, military and maritime museums, natural history museums, accredited zoos, planetariums, science and technology centers, orchestras, art museums, and performing arts organizations.   • The Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) is a tax credit open to eligible neighborhood nonprofits until August 31st. Eligible neighborhood nonprofits can apply for NAP tax credits based on pending contributions from for-profit companies. A nonprofit must solicit corporate support to be eligible. Priority will be given to projects that address the effects of COVID-19 and provide opportunities for marginalized populations. Neighborhood organizations with an IRS 501(c)(3) designation are eligible for tax credits through this program, though please review DCED program guidelines for eligibility criteria. Eligible projects include: affordable housing, community economic development, community services, education, neighborhood assistance and conservation, crime prevention, job training, or charitable food assistance. Applications must be submitted through the DCED Electronic Single Application.
  • The $225 million COVID-19 Relief PA Statewide Small Business Assistance program will open for a second round in August. All applicants must apply through a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). 50% of grants through this program will be awarded to Historically Disadvantaged businesses. The program will also give extra consideration to women-owned businesses, communities targeted for business investment by state government programs like Main Street and Elm Street, and rural communities.   • The deadline to apply for federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans is August 8th, 2020. To apply, you must submit applications through a local lender.
