Are you stuck with strands of old holiday string lights that aren’t working anymore? Or maybe you’ve heard about energy-saving LED lights and want to toss out your old traditional lights in favor of new ones? No matter what the reason, resist the urge of throwing away your unwanted holiday lights in the trash. Jenkintown Borough is collecting string lights on behalf of the Jenkintown Environmental Advisory Committee (JEAC) for recycling, now through January 15th in the vestibule at borough hall OR Jenkintown library during regular business hours! Your holiday lights will be collected and sent to an established light recycling program and be re-purposed and reused again without further damaging the environment.

Phase Two of the Sanitary Sewer Lining Project will continue on Tuesday, November 12th 2019 on Nice Avenue between Greenwood Avenue & Cottman Street from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM. During this phase of the project the contractor, National Water Main Cleaning Company, will complete spot repairs. This work being completed at this time should not cause any disruption to water/ sewer service to residents.
Jenkintown Borough will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2019 in observance of Veterans Day. Borough Hall will re-open for its normal business hours on Tuesday, November 12th at 8:00 AM. If there is an emergency during this time, please dial 911.
There will be no disruption to trash and recycling collection. Trash and recycling will still be picked up on Friday November 15th, 2019.

Jenkintown Borough has been notified by Aqua Pennsylvania’s subcontractor, Caddick Utilities, that Homestead Road between Vernon Road and Cottman Street will be closed to thru traffic on Thursday, November 7th, 2019 from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Also, Cottman Street between West Avenue and Homestead Road will be closed to thru traffic on Thursday, November 7th from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM to allow for the transfer of water services to be safely completed. AQUA has notified the Borough that there will be temporary service disruptions on Thursday, November 7th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Cottman Street between Nice Avenue and Homestead Road .
