Jenkintown Borough has been notified by Aqua Pennsylvania’s subcontractor, Caddick Utilities, that Newbold Road between Rydal Road and Washington Lane will be closed to thru traffic beginning today through Wednesday, January 8th (excluding Saturday/Sunday). Construction crews will be making permanent restoration to roadway areas disturbed during water service and main installations. Work will take place between 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. 

Residents will continue to have access to their properties during this process.  If you do not reside on this road please take another route during these times to avoid disruption to your travels.

Upon completion of the work on Newbold Road restoration of the water main trench on Homestead Road will take place. That work is expected to begin Thursday January, 9th and will occur during the same work hours.

Jenkintown Borough has been notified by SEPTA that there will be overnight work within the track area at Walnut Street Bridge.  Septa has reported that notice has been distributed to residents in the impacted area along Walnut Street and Runnymede Avenue.  The work is scheduled to begin Friday, January 3rd, 2020 at 11:00 PM and end Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at 7:00 AM.

As a reminder to residents, trash and recycling will be postponed one day due to the New Years holiday. Trash and recycling is normally picked up in the Borough on Fridays however during the week of New Years, trash and recycling will be collected on Saturday, January 4th. 

Trash and Recycling will return to its normal Friday collection schedule on January 10th, 2020.

Holiday Tree Collection will occur on all Tuesdays in January. Holiday trees may be disposed of with normal lawn & leaf curbside pickup and will be collected each Tuesday on the following consecutive Tuesdays; January 7th, January 14th, January 21st and January 28th. Read More »

Trash and recycling is normally picked up in the Borough on Fridays. However, during the week of Christmas and the week of New Years, trash and recycling will be collected on Saturday, December 28th and Saturday, January 4th. 

Trash and Recycling will return to its normal Friday collection schedule on January 10th, 2020.

Additionally, Jenkintown Borough Hall will be closed on Wednesday, December 25th in observance of Christmas Day. The Borough will re-open at 8:00 AM on Thursday, December 26th.

The Jenkintown Grand Menorah Lighting Ceremony will be held at 610 Old York Road THIS Sunday, December 22nd at 5:00 PM.  The Annual Jenkintown Square Menorah Lighting will be held at Town Square on Thursday, December 26th at 6:45 PM.  There will be singing, entertainment, latkes, doughnuts and warm beverages to enjoy during the lighting!
