Winter Weather Expected Jan. 18
The Public Works Department has prepared for the current inclement weather forecast to begin tomorrow, Saturday, January 18th. The storm’s current forecast is to begin with snow early afternoon and then turn into rain late tomorrow evening. We are currently anticipating a plowable event so if you own a driveway please park in the driveway, if you do not own a driveway please park close to the curb to allow the plow trucks clear access to the roadway.
The Public Works Department has completed pre-treating the roads with brine solution. The roads will be slippery throughout the storm and while salting operations are taking place. AFS Expands Yearly King Day of Service to Include a Social Justice Symposium
On Monday, January 20, Abington Friends School (AFS) will host Let Your Life Speak: King Day of Service & Social Justice Symposium. For many years the School has invited the local community together for a day of service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and worked with volunteers from across the region on behalf of those in need. 2020 PECO Gas Main Replacement Project
The Borough has been notified that PECO will be continuing their upgrade program to replace the aging underground natural gas infrastructure in the Borough.
Every day, PECO delivers innovation and advances smart energy to provide safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy for our customers and the communities they serve. As part of their commitment, PECO is working to upgrade our natural gas equipment and improve service in our neighborhood. This work includes replacing existing natural gas main and/or service lines with new underground pipe, which enhances safety, is more durable and improves service reliability.
PECO will begin upgrading gas mains on Florence Avenue, Runnymede to Rodman Avenues; Runnymede Avenue, Cloverly to Rodman Avenues; and Walnut Street, from SEPTA Tracks to Rodman Avenue. This work is scheduled to begin on February 3rd, 2020. Customers will be receiving notifications approximately two weeks prior to the start of work.
