Phased Approach Relies on Safety and Science

Governor Tom Wolf today presented his detailed plan for reopening the commonwealth with a targeted May 8 start. The administration will categorize reopening into three phases: red, yellow, green. Phases will be assigned based on conditions in a county, counties or region.

The administration will first study conditions in the north-central and northwest regions with a target of moving from red to yellow on May 8. Additional monitoring will take place and direction will be provided in the next week. Read More »

Governor Tom Wolf announced three actions including online sales of vehicles, which will be enabled by the signing of SB 841, restart of construction projects statewide starting Friday, May 8, and curbside pickup of wine and spirits at select Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board locations.

“Over the past six weeks, Pennsylvanians have come together like never before to halt the spread of COVID-19,” said Gov. Wolf. “It has not been easy, but it has paid off. Today, we are taking small steps toward a degree of normalcy. We are allowing curbside pickup of phone orders at PLCB stores and auto sales will be allowed to take place online. On May 8, construction will resume statewide.

“I want to caution that we will not be resuming operations as they were in February. We’re going to continue to take precautions that limit our physical contact with others, and we will closely monitor this to see if it can be done safely.” Read More »

The Borough would like to remind you that due to the COVID-19 Emergency and in strict observance of Governor Wolf’s “Stay at Home Order”, the Borough will livestream all Public Committee and Borough Council meetings through the Borough’s Facebook page during this emergency. The Borough Council will hold their regularly scheduled public meeting on Wednesday, April 22nd at 7:00 PM on the Borough Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/jenkintownboro.  The meeting agenda can be found here on the Borough’s Website.

The public will be able to submit comments beforehand to the Borough Manager at glocke@jenkintownboro.comcreate new email. Comments received before 4:00 PM the night of the meeting will be read during the public meeting. The Public will also have the opportunity to ask questions/ comment live during the Public Comment portion of the meeting on the Borough Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/jenkintownboro.

The Borough has been notified by PECO’s subcontractor, Henkels & McCoy, that the Accelerated Gas Infrastructure Modernization Project (AGIMP) will continue the week of Monday, April 20th.  Runnymede Avenue between Myrtle Avenue and Walnut Street AND Florence Avenue between West and Runnymede Avenues will be closed to thru traffic for approximately one week beginning Monday, April 20th from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and there will be a lane closure on Walnut Street between Runnymede and Rodman Avenues from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to allow for the installation of new gas mains to be safely completed in these areas.  Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control due to temporary lane closures. 

Residents will continue to have access to their properties during this process.  If you do not reside on this road please take another route during these times to avoid disruption of your travels. Read More »

Food insecurity concerns have been escalating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and Jenkintown Borough would like to provide everyone with very helpful information to help support anyone struggling with food insecurity during this difficult time.
