Good Day Philadelphia will be coming into town to film their entire morning show from Town Square. They will highlight everything that makes Jenkintown Borough a unique and special place. The show will be highlighting the Borough businesses and activities including the Annual Festival of the Arts! Planning is in full effect to make sure that all businesses and groups are included in the event. As more details are known we will be sure to distribute them accordingly. PECO is in the final stages of the electrical upgrade project. PECO states that the attached letter was mailed approximately on May 13th notifying customers of power outages. Additionally, PECO stated that customers would also receive a separate notice 72 hours in advance of the scheduled interruption. The Borough has had numerous complaints that these notifications had not been received.
As they wrap up the project, PECO will be scheduling brief power interruptions (approx. 4-6 hours in duration) between May 31 – June 10. The Borough is in communication with PECO attempting to obtain the remaining disruption schedule so it can be distributed to Borough residents by email blast, Facebook and on the Borough website. Jenkintown’s annual Red & Blue Fair will be held on Saturday, May 21st from 11am-3pm on the grounds of the Jenkintown Elementary School. Jenkintown High School’s second annual 5K—the newly-named Red and Blue Race–is taking place on Saturday, May 21. This event is being held on the same day as the Red and Blue Fair, hoping to start a great tradition of Jenkintown community pride leading up to Color Day the following Friday. The race is raising money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life held at JHS on June 3. The race begins at 10am sharp at the football stadium (rain or shine), with the family fun walk beginning at 9:30.
