The Jenkintown Recreation Board is excited to announce this year’s Scare on the Square, our annual celebration of all that is tricky and treat-y in Jenkintown! Please join us Saturday, October 29 from 2 – 4 p.m. in Town Square, where we’ll have fun activities for young ghouls and goblins, including games, bobbing for apples, a mummy wrapping contest, crafts, and treats for all to enjoy. Don’t forget to wear your costume!
We are moving today’s chili festivities to the Independent Fire Company at 609 Greenwood Ave. It’s just down the street from Town Square. The schedule remains the same. Cooks should arrive by 1PM to setup. We plan to open for business at 1:30PM.
Jenkintown Police Department in cooperation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office and the DEA will be accepting any unused prescription medications you would like to dispose of. Anyone can bring the medications to the Jenkintown Police Department on Saturday, 22 October from 10AM until 2 PM, 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown PA 19046. For more information please see the attached flyer here. Thank you.
Due to the holiday, the Public Works and Public Safety Committee meetings will be rescheduled for next Wednesday, October 19th at 7:30 PM in Borough Hall.
We apologize for any inconvenience and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Borough.
This week is Fire Prevention Week, and the Fire Departments of Jenkintown are hosting an event on Thursday, Oct. 13th, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. This event will be held on Greenwood Avenue between Leedom Street and York Road. This portion of Greenwood Avenue will be closed to allow for this event. It’s a great opportunity to teach kids about fire prevention, and a chance to meet and say thanks to our volunteers who work so hard for our community. For more information, please see the flyer here.
Please note both public parking lots will be open but only accessible from Leedom Street.
