Special Borough Council Meeting

The Borough Council of the Borough of Jenkintown will hold a special public meeting of council to take action on the hiring of a Police Officer and other matters presented before Council. This meeting will be held on Wednesday February 8th, 2017 at 7:00pm. in Borough Hall, 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046. All interested parties are invited to attend.

Leedom Street Road Closure

Leedom Street will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 7 AM until 4 PM to allow for emergency sanitary sewer repairs to take place.  The closure will take place between Greenwood and Summit Avenues.

On street parking will be restricted but any businesses or parking lots in this area will still have full access.

Jenkintown Borough Purchase of Property for Green Space

During the summer of 2016, Jenkintown Borough was approached by the owner of 433 and 435 Cedar Street in Jenkintown. He was in the process of selling the property and had been approached by real estate developers who planned to construct six units of dense housing. The owner did not care for that plan, and approached the Borough offering to sell the property for a price significantly lower than market value.

During a period of due diligence, the Borough contracted with qualified firms and commissioned a comprehensive property appraisal, an environmental study (ESA I), and home and property inspections. Read More »

Cedar Street Road Closure

Due to an emergency sink hole repair, Cedar Street between Harper Avenue and Summit Avenue will be closed tomorrow, January 12th. The road closure will begin around 7 am and will last throughout the day.  Information on Cedar Street re-opening to traffic will be provided as more details become available, however it is planned to have Cedar Street opened by the end of the work day.

Please make plans to take an alternate route during the time listed to avoid further disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary repairs are made.
