Florence Avenue (400 block) will be closed to through traffic tomorrow, Wednesday, February 21st from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
Passerini Construction will be continuing to install storm pipes and inlets to address the drainage issues on Florence Avenue between West and Hillside Avenues. There will be no parking on Florence from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, residents will be able to access their driveways. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this week.
Please make plans to take an alternate route during the times listed to avoid disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary repairs are made.
Due to a scheduling conflict the Community Conversation meeting that was originally scheduled to be held at Homestead Hall has been relocated and will now be held in the Jenkintown School District Cafeteria. The meeting date and time remain the same; Tuesday, February 20th at 7:00 PM. Please enter the building through the back doors, those closest to the parking lot will be open.
The meeting will be held to discuss the Borough’s ongoing efforts to welcome new business developments. It will be an opportunity to hear from potential developers, as well as to give feedback on potential proposals. Your input in valued and all are welcome! Please find the attached flyer here.
There are several land development applications and/or proposals that have recently been presented to Jenkintown Borough. Please find the information below as a summary of the proposed projects and the next opportunities for public input.
Abington Friends School – 575 Washington Lane, Jenkintown, Pa 19046. The applicants have submitted an application to the Abington Township Zoning Hearing Board seeking variances/approval to replace the existing multipurpose playing field with a new playing surface, track, fencing, netting and lighting. Dimensional variances have been requested to install the fencing, netting and light fixtures within the required setback areas. Dimensional standards are also requested to allow for light standards of up to 70 feet in height to be installed within the front yard setback area and two additional poles of 80 feet in height to be installed between the proposed multipurpose field and the existing buildings on the site.

The Public Works Department has been preparing for the inclement weather currently forecast to begin around 6:00 AM tomorrow morning, Wednesday February 7th, and to last throughout the morning hours. Read More »
The Public Works Department has brined all roads in preparation for the inclement weather expected to begin around 7 AM tomorrow morning, January 30th and to last throughout the afternoon until about 4 PM.
At this time, the snow is expected to accumulate to one inch. While this may not be a plowable event, the roads may be slippery during morning hours as salting operations are taking place. All equipment is operational and Public Works will be monitoring the conditions throughout the night.
Yard Debris and Special Pickup will be delayed to the following day – Wednesday, January 31st due to the weather.
