This Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and the perfect opportunity for you to rid your medicine cabinets of unwanted, unused and expired prescription medications. There is no need to keep unused prescription drugs – in the past 10 years prescription drug abuse has quadrupled and now results in more deaths than all illicit street drugs combined. To discourage theft and reduce the flow of prescription drugs in circulation – you had to rid of them properly.
The Jenkintown Police Department in cooperation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office – will be accepting any unused prescription medications you would like to dispose of. Place the drugs in a sealed container such as the original bottle or a zip lock bag (liquids should remain in the original container) and remove any personal information or obscure it with a permanent marker. Needles and intravenous injectable solutions are not accepted. Residents can bring the medications to the Jenkintown Police Department on Saturday, October 27th from 10 AM until 2 PM, 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown PA 19046. Jenkintown Borough Police would like to let residents know that there is a permanent drop box in the lobby of the Jenkintown Police Department that is available Monday – Friday during the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
