Borough Hall and JPD Hours of Operation Revised for 3/25/19

The demolition project at 610 Summit Avenue is proceeding as planned and on schedule. The demolition of the Life Center portion of the project has commenced. The Borough Engineer, JPD and Borough Administration met with Roizman Development Inc. and the Demolition Contractor for Summit House Associates LLC. to discuss the progress and future demolition schedule.
The current demolition schedule is as follows: Life Center demolition has commenced. As of today, Monday, March 11th, the demolition Contractor will continue with the demolition of the Life Center using mechanical equipment. Friday, March 15th, the demolition of the shared party wall with Borough hall, will be performed by hand only, for safety and to minimize potential damage to Borough property.
On Monday, March 25th, Borough hall will be closed so the demolition of the shared party wall can be safely completed. The JPD has provided a statement (shown below in blue) that will be issued under separate cover as well.

On Monday, March 25th, from 7am to 4pm the Police Department will not be open for walk in customer service, due to construction and demolition, of the party wall between the Borough building and Salem Church.  Patrol and calls for service will not be affected.  If you need to speak to an officer call 215-884-1200 or if an emergency call 911.

Walnut Street Road Closure So Repairs Can Be Made

Walnut Street (Southbound Lane) between West and Greenwood Avenues has been closed to all through traffic, today, Monday, March 11th, 2019. The Borough became aware of a sinkhole forming on Walnut Street. The area in question was evaluated and is currently being excavated and repaired. The compromised area in the roadway appears to be minimal and there does not appear to be any safety concerns outside the paved roadway. The roadway will remain closed while repairs are performed and the intent is to complete the repairs prior to school dismissal today.

The Jenkintown Borough Zoning Hearing Board will be holding a public hearing at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 28th, 2019, at the Jenkintown Borough Hall, located at 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 19046 to consider the application of DMPAG Inc. (the “Applicant”). The subject property is 441-443 Leedom Street, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 19046, tax map parcel 10-00-02188-00-7 located in the C Residential District (the “Property”). Applicant proposes to subdivide the parcel, “continue use of two residential units in existing building, provide separate lots for existing two units and one future unit with storage garages for use by owner (not for rent). Complete Cedar Street Park Plan Presentation and Q&A
