A reminder to all Jenkintown Residents that the 28th Annual Jenkintown Sunset 5K Run will be held tonight, Tuesday June 4th at 7PM at the Town Square, presented by the Jenkintown Kiwanis Club. This is a rain or shine event.
Come on out and join us celebrating a Jenkintown tradition. Day of registration begins at 5PM. Currently the cost is $40 for Adults and $16 for those 10 & Under. Racing will start at 6:30PM with the free kids dash for those 6 years old and under. Then at 7PM the main race will begin. Join us at the town square to cheer them on, or if you live along the course cheer them on as they run by, as I am sure you will see plenty of your neighbors running. Let’s show everyone what makes Jenkintown so special. Live music by The Square Pegs of Oreland featuring JSD’s very own Jason Slowik at the gazebo from 6-8PM will be provided as well as post race refreshments.
Please be aware that there will be 500-600 runners on the roads that evening, so please be careful if driving at that time. Anticipate some delays, so please be patient. Also, please be aware that certain roads will be closed to traffic throughout the borough and especially around the Town Square that evening starting at 5:15PM. Aqua Pennsylvania is set to begin their planned infrastructure improvements within Jenkintown Borough. The first phase of the Aqua water main replacement project is scheduled to begin after the end of the school year, on Monday, June 17th and will include Highland Avenue between West and Hillside Avenues, as well as Walnut Street between Greenwood and West Avenues. There is a planned detour for Walnut Street on this project map shown here. The detour will be in effect Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM / 3:00 PM daily so the work can be performed safely. Jenkintown Borough has been notified by Republic Services (the Borough’s trash and recycling hauler), that the curbside pickup of trash and recycling in the Borough, will be delayed one day this week until Saturday, June 1st. This delay is due to last Monday’s Memorial Day Holiday.
Trash and recycling will be picked up this week on Saturday, June 1st.
