SNOW EMERGENCY DECLARATION

Jenkintown Borough has declared a Snow Emergency, effective from 10:00 PM Friday, February 16th through 12:00 NOON, Saturday, February 17th.

Due to anticipated snow this evening and into tomorrow, with freezing temperatures, and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of affected residents, business owners and travelers traversing the Borough, Jenkintown Borough Mayor Lerman has declared a Snow Emergency in Jenkintown Borough.

Residents are requested to move all vehicles from the streets, if possible. If you have a driveway, please park in it. If not, please park as close to the curb as possible so plow trucks can clear roadways without obstructions.

Sidewalks must be clear of snow and ice 24 hrs after snow has ceased falling.

If you must travel, please use extreme caution. Borough crews have salted all roads in the Borough and will be working to keep roads clear.

TRASH AND RECYCLE CURBSIDE COLLECTION CHANGED DUE TO STORM

Due to the pending snowstorm, the Borough’s contracted waste hauler Republic Services will be providing curbside collection of trash and recycling tomorrow morning (Friday). The collection will begin at 4:00 AM to allow the entire Borough to be collected before the forecasted storm worsens.

Please place your trash and recycling curbside today (Thursday) and it will be picked up tomorrow morning (Friday) starting at 4:00 AM.

This unusual service hour was offered by Republic Services and accepted by the Borough to enable the weekly curbside pickup to take place safely and allow employees that are performing the work to travel safely.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during these forecasted severe weather conditions.

If you have any questions regarding the collection schedule, please contact Borough Hall at (215) 885 – 0700.

TRASH, RECYCLING & HOLIDAY TREE DISPOSAL SCHEDULE

Due to the observance of the Christmas Holiday on Monday, December 25th, the Borough’s curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day and will be collected on Saturday, December 30th, 2023. Yard waste collection will occur on Tuesday, January 2nd as regularly scheduled.

HOLIDAY TREE DISPOSAL SCHEDULE – TUESDAYS IN JANUARY
Holiday trees placed curbside will continue to be picked up with yard waste collection each Tuesday in January. This year that falls on January 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th.

The trees are picked up by the Borough Public Works Department and delivered to Abington Township where they are ground into mulch with other yard waste, which is then made available to Borough and Township residents free of cost.

Please be sure to remove all lights, ornaments and tinsel before placing the tree curbside so that the process of turning the trees into usable mulch will not be negatively affected.
