Snow Emergency Declared by Mayor Dobbs

Mayor Dobbs has declared a snow emergency in the Borough of Jenkintown beginning tonight, 9:00 PM and expiring 9:00 PM Thursday, March 8th, 2018. Current forecasts are calling for 8″ to 12″ of snow. Residents with a driveway are asked to please park in it so that the roads can be cleared for emergency vehicles.  If you do not have a driveway please park as close to the curb as possible to allow for safe passage of the Borough plow trucks. The County has declared a “Code Blue” due to the expected frigid temperatures. All County Offices will be closed tomorrow and the EMC has asked that non-essential personnel not report for duty. If you must travel please take along the recommended safety gear and allow extra time to navigate the expected icy roads. The Jenkintown Police Department and Public Works Department will be fully staffed throughout the storm. Read More »

Winter Storm Quinn

The Public Works Department has been preparing for the inclement weather currently forecasted to begin tonight, Tuesday March 6 at 11:00 PM, and continue into tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7th until 6:00 PM. The roads have not been brined as the storm will begin with rain which washes the brine away prior to snow fall. The storm is forecast to begin with rain around 11:00 PM this evening and turn to snow at 7:00 AM tomorrow with snow continuing throughout the day.

At this time, the snow is expected to accumulate to 8-12 inches. This is expected to be a plowable event and the roads will be slippery during the storm as salting operations are taking place. All equipment is operational and Public Works will be monitoring the conditions throughout the evening.

Public Works will be staffed throughout the storm. If you have an emergency, please dial 911. If your concern is not an emergency, please contact the JPD at their non-emergency number, (215) 884-1202.  Read More »
