Reporting Potholes in the Borough

The multiple winter storms in our region have taken a toll on roads and have resulted in a significant number of potholes. Thankfully, Jenkintown Borough faired pretty well in comparison. However, please be cautious of potholes, especially if driving at night or during inclement weather as they are less visible.

The Jenkintown Public Works Department has been documenting the pothole locations and addressing them with temporary patch material as time and weather allows. Extreme cases are addressed immediately.

Take the Healthy Yard Pledge

Please join the Jenkintown Borough Environmental Advisory Committee in taking the Audubon Healthy Yard Pledge. You can partake in the pledge by using native plans in the landscape, removing invasive plant species, reducing storm water runoff, eliminating the use of pesticides, providing for birds and protecting those that show up. The pledge will help Jenkintown increase and improve bird habitats; and Jenkintown only needs ten more signatures. Please stop by Borough Hall to sign the pledge sheet. More information on the pledge can be found at http://pa.audubon.org/birds/bird-town.

Jenkintown Borough Battery Collection

The Jenkintown Borough Environmental Advisory Committee has started a recycling program that allows residents of the Borough to bring their batteries in to Borough Hall and leave them in a recycling bucket. The bucket is for dry cell only, including: Alkaline, 9v, AA, AAA, D, C, NIMH, NICD (less then 9 volts). The Borough is asking residents to scotch tape both ends of the batteries to prevent batteries from short circuiting and to limit direct contact. Please see the attached flyer here, for more information.

The Borough is only collecting batteries at Borough Hall, please do not place batteries in residential recycling container for curbside pickup.

Thank you!
