Jenkintown Borough would like to remind its residents that trash and recycling collection will be delayed this week due to the Labor Day holiday. Trash and recycling this week will be collected on Saturday, September 8th.

Trash and recycling collection will return to its normal pick up time of Fridays the following week.

During the summer, Jenkintown Borough was awarded the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), funded by the Department of Community and Economic Development. This grant allowed the Borough to replace handicap ramps within the Borough, bringing them into current code compliance.

The Borough began this project in late August, working in areas in close proximity to the school with the intent to complete these portions before the start of the new year.

With the start of the school year fast approaching, the contractor, NJS Concrete, has been working diligently to complete the project. Highland Avenue, from West Avenue to Hillside Avenue will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, August 30 from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM to allow for the excavation of the handicap ramps in that area.  During this time, residents will have access to their driveways.

Please make plans to take an alternate route during the times listed to avoid further disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary repairs are made. Jenkintown Police Department is now accepting applications for the part time position of School Crossing Guard. Help our kids cross the Borough of Jenkintown streets safely! Pay is $12.50 per hour, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM and from 2:45 PM- 3:45 PM.

Applications can be picked up and dropped off at the Jenkintown Police Department’s desk between 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM – Mondaythrough Friday. Please see the flier opens in a new windowhere!
