Delay in Leaf Route 3

Due to the mechanical malfunction with the Jenkintown Borough Public Works leaf trailer, Public Works will be picking up the remainder of the leaves on Route 3 tomorrow, November 9th on Vernon Road from Homestead Road to Washington Lane. We apologize any inconvenience this may cause.

Please refer to the 2018 Lawn and Leaf Collection Schedule here to view the remainder of the pick up times.

York Road Lane Closure This Evening

The Borough has been notified by PennDOT that there will be a lane closure this evening on York Road between Greenwood Avenue and Washington Lane. The lane closure is expected to take place between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM. This lane closure will be in place so that PECO can safely install gas services to customers at 203 York Road and 1125 Old York Road. PennDOT has required this work to be performed at night to minimize the disruption to traffic. This project is expected to be completed in one day.

Please make plans to take an alternate route during the time listed to avoid further disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while this utility work takes place.

Chili Cook-Off & Pie-Baking Tournament

Your chance for chili (or pie) glory is less than a few days away! The Jenkintown Recreation Board is proud to host the 2018 Chili Cook-Off and Pie-Baking Tournament on November, 10th at 1:00 PM in Town Square. In the event of rain, the cookoff will take place at Independent Fire Company located at 609 Greenwood Avenue.

A ticket to taste all chili is $5 a person. Tickets may be purchased at the Rec Board table by cash on the day of the event. Those who purchase a ticket for the event will be given 3 tokens at the Rec Board table to vote for their favorite tasting chili! (One additional token will be provided to tasters who donate one or more canned goods to Loaves & Fishes.)

Hillside Avenue Closed to be Closed to Through Traffic

Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 7th, the Borough’s subcontractor, General Asphalt Paving Co., will be reinstalling the Speed Hump on the 400 block of Hillside Avenue (between Walnut St. and Elm Ave.).
The area in the direct vicinity of the speed hump has been posted as No Parking so the work can be completed quickly and safely.

During this construction there will be no through traffic on Hillside Avenue. This portion of the project is expected to be completed in one day and work will take place between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
