Holiday Tree Curbside Pick-Up

Happy New Year! Now that the holidays have passed, Jenkintown Borough has scheduled Holiday Tree Special Pick-Up for the next Five (5) consecutive Tuesdays. Jenkintown Borough Public Works will begin curbside pick up of Holiday Trees next Tuesday, January 8th. These special pick up days will continue for five (5) consecutive Tuesdays (1/8, 1/15, 1/22, 1/29 and 2/5). Residents are encouraged to place the trees out on Monday evening in order to guarantee pickup.

Please be sure to remove all lights and ornaments so that the process of turning the trees in to usable mulch will not be negatively affected. 

Regularly scheduled lawn & leaf debris curbside pickup will continue on Tuesdays weather permitting.

Cedar Street Park Meeting Schedule

It’s time to plan your park! Jenkintown Borough will be holding three (3) meetings in the new year to present and discuss the planning of the future Cedar Street Park. These public meetings will be open to all residents and those who wish to participate in the planning process.

Borough Hall Hours & Lawn and Leaf Debris

Borough Hall Closed – January 1, 2019 – Jenkintown Borough Hall will be closed on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in observance of New Year’s Day.  Borough Hall will re-open at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Yard & Leaf Debris Collection – Collection of bagged yard and leaf debris will occur on Wednesday, January 2nd.  The Borough will return to the normal Tuesday collection schedule for bagged yard and leaf debris the week of January 8, 2019.

Saturday Trash & Recycling Collection – Collection of trash and recycling that normally occurs on Friday will occur on Saturday, January 5th this week due to the New Years holiday. Please remind neighbors and friends of the change.

Trash & Recycling Holiday Schedule

As a reminder to residents, trash and recycling will be picked up a day later than usual due to the Christmas and New Years holidays. Trash and recycling is normally picked up in the Borough on Fridays. However, during the week of Christmas and the week of New Years, trash and recycling will be collected on Saturday, December 29th and Saturday, January 5th. 

Trash and Recycling will return to its normal Friday collection schedule on January 11th, 2019.

Recycling this Holiday Season

Have string lights that aren’t working? Or any string lights that you simply don’t feel like untangling? Jenkintown Borough is collecting string lights on behalf of the Borough’s Environmental Action Committee. You can drop lights off in the collection box located in Jenkintown Borough Hall’s vestibule. On Tuesday, January 8th, the collection box will be picked up by the EAC and the lights will be recycled properly. Please feel free to let neighbors and friends know about this wonderful opportunity to remove waste from land fills.  Read More »
