Highland Avenue Road Closure

The AQUA watermain project began today Thursday, June 20, 2019 on Highland Avenue.  Highland Avenue will be closed to “thru traffic” so the roadway can be excavated and the new watermain installed safely. Highland Avenue is expected to re-open to “thru traffic” on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. 

Excavation for the new watermain on Walnut Street will immediately follow this portion of the project.  Information from this project is shown below from the previous email blast.

2019 Street Sweeper Route

In accordance with the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit issued by the PA Department of Environmental Protection, Jenkintown Borough is required to implement good housekeeping strategies to prevent pollution in stormwater runoff from municipal operations, including roadways. Pollutants collect on the Borough’s roads between rain events from vehicle emissions, winter deicing operations, trash, road wear and tear, and grass clippings from adjacent properties.

This year’s schedule is slated to begin Monday June 10th. The 2019 schedule and map provided hereopens PDF file show the dates your street will be cleaned. The schedule and map are available on the Borough website www.jenkintownboro.com and paper copies are also available at Borough hall. The street cleaning can be more thorough and complete if vehicles are not on the street when the street is cleaned. Much like when there is a snow storm, residents with driveways are asked to use them so the entire street can be cleaned on that day. Read More »
