“Community Spotlight” Website Feature has been updated

The “Community Spotlight” feature on the Borough’s website has been updated, always see what’s happening on the Borough website!  

The latest “Community Spotlight” highlights the Borough’s continued efforts to utilize green renewable energy to reduce our carbon footprint and the use of fossil fuels.

One of the Recommendation / Strategies (S5) being introduced and implemented from the Jenkintown 2035 Comprehensive Plan is the move toward Clean Energy. The Borough has been a leader in environmental issues lead by the efforts of an extremely active and dedicated Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC). The EAC meets at Borough hall on the First Wednesday of every month and has discussions on many different topics that affect the environment. Summit Avenue Road Closure August 8th and August 9th

Jenkintown Borough has just received notification from AQUA that Summit Avenue, between Cedar & Willow Streets will be closed beginning today, August 8th through tomorrow, August 9th to allow for installation of water service to 610 Summit Avenue.

The detour will be in effect today and tomorrow 7:00 AM / 3:00 PM daily so the work can be performed safely.  Please plan to take another route during these times to avoid disruption to your travels. Residents will continue to have access to their properties during this detour.

Coffee with the Chief

Police Chief Albert DiValentino along with Mayor Allyson Dobbs & Councilors Jay Conners, Anne MacHaffie, Jennifer Lugar and Alex Khalil would like to announce and invite you to “Coffee with the Chief”.

Coffee with the Chief brings the Police Department and the community members/stakeholders they serve together to discuss issues, learn more about each other and build relationships – one cup of coffee at a time.

Coffee with the Chief will be held at White Horse Coffee & Creamery, 700 West Avenue from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM on Monday, August 19th . Free coffee and light pastries will be served.

The JEAC will host three short presentations offering practical responses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions:

PECO will discuss services to improve energy efficiency at home and for businesses;
Energy Coop will explain how to purchase power from non-greenhouse gas sources
GreenSpot will present on electric vehicle car sharing and charging stations.
