AQUA’s sub contractor, Caddick Utilities, will continue the second phase of the excavation and watermain installation project on Monday, September 23, 2019. Vernon Road will be closed to “thru traffic” from Homestead Road to West Avenue AND Newbold Road will be closed to “thru traffic” from Homestead Road to Washington Lane from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM to allow for the roadway to be excavated and the new watermain to be safely installed. Additionally, West Avenue from Vernon Road to Newbold Road will have temporary road closures during this time. Flaggers will be on site to help control the flow of traffic during this process and residents will continue to have access to their properties. Medication Drop Off at the Jenkintown Police Department
Mayor Dobbs would like to let residents know that the Jenkintown Police Department has a permanent drop box in the lobby of the Jenkintown Police Department that is available for medication drop off 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The drugs should be placed in a sealed container such as the original bottle or a zip lock bag (liquids should remain in the original container) and remove any personal information or obscure it with a permanent marker. Needles and intravenous injectable solutions would not accept here, however can be taken back to Abington Hospital’s Emergency Room for proper disposal. Read More »

Vernon Road will be closed to “thru traffic” from Clement Road to Rydal Road and Newbold Road will be closed from Rydal Road to Clement Road from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM to allow for the roadway to be excavated and the new watermain to be safely installed. Flaggers will be on site to help control the flow of traffic during this process and residents will continue to have access to their properties. Planning Commission Meeting Tonight 6:30 PM
The Zoning & Land Development Applications page on the Borough website has been updated.
Tonight the Jenkintown Borough Planning Commission will meet at Borough hall, 700 Summit Avenue. The regularly scheduled meeting begins at 6:30 PM. The Planning Commission agenda is posted on the Borough website and is available here. The Planning Commission has been working to roll out and implement the Jenkintown Borough 2035 Comprehensive Plan. Agenda items include the Historic building resource protection, zoning code update, sub-division and land development updates. The new business this evening will be discussion on a T-Mobile antenna zoning request for 610 York Road that was denied and will be filing for a Zoning Board Hearing seeking zoning relief. There will also be a presentation for a land development and conditional use applicant by the property owner of 93 York Road. This project received all required zoning relief from the JB Zoning Hearing Board in October 2018 and has now filed all appropriate applications to proceed with the Land Development and Conditional Use processes.
