2020 PECO Gas Main Replacement Project
The Borough has been notified that PECO will be continuing their upgrade program to replace the aging underground natural gas infrastructure in the Borough.
Every day, PECO delivers innovation and advances smart energy to provide safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy for our customers and the communities they serve. As part of their commitment, PECO is working to upgrade our natural gas equipment and improve service in our neighborhood. This work includes replacing existing natural gas main and/or service lines with new underground pipe, which enhances safety, is more durable and improves service reliability.
PECO will begin upgrading gas mains on Florence Avenue, Runnymede to Rodman Avenues; Runnymede Avenue, Cloverly to Rodman Avenues; and Walnut Street, from SEPTA Tracks to Rodman Avenue. This work is scheduled to begin on February 3rd, 2020. Customers will be receiving notifications approximately two weeks prior to the start of work. Newbold and Homestead Road Closure Schedules
Jenkintown Borough has been notified by Aqua Pennsylvania’s subcontractor, Caddick Utilities, that Newbold Road between Rydal Road and Washington Lane will be closed to thru traffic beginning today through Wednesday, January 8th (excluding Saturday/Sunday). Construction crews will be making permanent restoration to roadway areas disturbed during water service and main installations. Work will take place between 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Residents will continue to have access to their properties during this process. If you do not reside on this road please take another route during these times to avoid disruption to your travels.
Upon completion of the work on Newbold Road restoration of the water main trench on Homestead Road will take place. That work is expected to begin Thursday January, 9th and will occur during the same work hours.

SEPTA SCHEDULED WORK NOTICE – OVERNIGHT TRACK WORK
Jenkintown Borough has been notified by SEPTA that there will be overnight work within the track area at Walnut Street Bridge. Septa has reported that notice has been distributed to residents in the impacted area along Walnut Street and Runnymede Avenue. The work is scheduled to begin Friday, January 3rd, 2020 at 11:00 PM and end Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at 7:00 AM.
