Borough Offices to Close for Two Weeks

Borough Offices to be closed for the next two weeks. All non-essential Personnel will be working remotely from home during this time.

This afternoon, Governor Wolf announced that he will be closing all non-essential travel, services, and activities within Montgomery County. This decision was not made lightly but was made in an abundance of caution, as the public health benefits outweigh the challenges this decision presents us.

Mayor Dobbs and Borough Council are monitoring this crisis closely and want to protect the citizens of the Borough and staff as best they can. In response to Governor Wolfs announcement, Jenkintown Borough has taken precautionary measures to reduce the transmission of the Coronavirus to staff and residents. Effective immediately, Borough Offices including the Police Department’s office desk will be closed for the next two weeks in an effort to reduce person to person contact.

Routine Police patrols, calls for the Police, all Emergency services and the Public Works Department will not be a affected and will continue to serve the public as normal.

Borough Hall will be closed for two weeks, beginning tomorrow March 13, 2020. As of this most recent guidance, the Borough anticipates reopening on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 8:00 AM.

We understand that this circumstance may be challenging for residents and businesses; however, the primary concern is for safety of the general public, administration and staff.

Please be advised that ALL Public meetings previously scheduled and advertised to be held during this time period have been canceled, including the Committee meetings, Administration & Finance and Building, Zoning & Revitalization, Wednesday, March 18, and Borough Council meeting Wednesday, March 25th. Any change to this proclamation will be announced and advertised.

Curbside pickup of trash and recycling will still be collected tomorrow, Friday March 13 and there are no current plans by the Borough’s contracted trash hauler Republic Services to make changes to that schedule. Read More »
