SPS Overview of Demolition and Monitoring Plans

The Borough has received the soil testing results from TRC Environmental Corporation performed on behalf of SPS Technologies, Inc. as part of SPS’s community testing effort following the fire at their facility in February. The link below provides the testing results from sample collection activities conducted at the Jenkintown Borough Public Properties, “Town Square” and “Cedar Street Moretti Park”, The sampling was intended to assess whether there were discernible impacts to these properties from the fire.  The soil on the Borough Public Properties was tested for asbestos, cyanide, metals and PAHs. This information was submitted to the PaDep and is posted on the SPS website. Several private properties within the Borough were tested as well as the JSD and those results will be shared with the private property owners and then posted to the SPS website.

During the month of February, Jenkintown Borough engaged the Borough Engineer, Pennoni Associates Inc., to assist the Borough in analyzing testing data and making recommendations based on that analysis. Pennoni’s Environmental Department analyzed all data and provided the evaluation report below. There is a large quantity of public data that was utilized during this process and they will be provided to the Borough.
