Winter Storm Warning: February 18 – February 19

The Public Works Department has been preparing for the potential threat of severe weather currently forecasted to begin Thursday, February 18th and continue into Friday, February 19th. According to the most recent update by the National Weather Service the storm forecast to begin, potential snowfall and significant accumulations combined with a possible wintery mix which will create unsafe travel conditions.  Minor flooding is also possible and high winds are expected.  Please visit the  opens in a new windowhttps://www.weather.gov/ for updates from the National Weather Service.      

  • Public Works has brined all roads and  will be staffed throughout the storm.
  • All equipment is operational and Public Works will be continually monitoring the conditions.
  • The roads are expected to be slippery and salting operations will be taking place.
  • This is forecast to be a plowable event, if you have a driveway please use it, if you park your vehicle in the street please park close to the curb to allow safe passage of the plow trucks.
  • If you must go outside or travel please use caution.

  • Safety measures in the event of a power outage: There is always the possibility of a power outage due to the high winds that accompany a storm.  If you use a power generator, please make sure the generator is located outside in the open air for proper ventilation.  Any portable heaters or candles that may be used in the event of a power outage should not be located near anything flammable.
  • Aqua Pennsylvania has provided the Borough with information on how to avoid frozen pipes, that information can be found here. As the homeowner, you are responsible for the protection of your home’s pipes and meters and for any damage to them.
